Baseball: Ohtani, Yamamoto set for playoff clash with Darvish, Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani said Friday he is looking forward to batting against one of his childhood baseball idols, the San Diego Padres’ Yu Darvish, in the National League Divisional Series. “Darvish was a star player when I was little,” Ohtani told a press conference at Dodger Stadium a day ahead of Saturday’s Game 1 of the best-of-five series. “I have been watching him on TV ever since, and he was one of the players I looked up to.” Ohtani said his only disappointment is that Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto will not go head-to-head against Darvish.
